Sausage Clip Twister for ChMPZ Meat Processing Plant

Sausage Clip Twister for Packaging Cost Reduction

Mirotec completed a project for ChMPZ Meat Processing Plant: a Sausage Clip Twister designed to automate clip handling before further sausage processing and packaging.
The machine twists sausage clips in a controlled way and prepares the product for clean downstream processing. This helps reduce manual handling, lower the risk of casing damage and make the production flow more stable before declipping, slicing, peeling or packaging.
For sausage producers, this type of equipment is useful when clip handling slows down the line, depends too much on manual labor or creates unnecessary product and packaging losses.

Project Task

The customer needed to automate one of the repetitive operations in sausage processing and make the product easier to prepare for the next production stage.
The project focused on several practical tasks:
— automate sausage clip twisting
— reduce manual handling of sausage sticks
— prepare clips for cleaner downstream removal
— lower the risk of casing damage
— improve process stability before packaging
— reduce operator contact with the product
— support more efficient use of packaging materials
— make the production stage faster and easier to control

Implemented Solution

Mirotec supplied a Sausage Clip Twister for industrial sausage processing.
The machine performs controlled twisting of clips on sausage sticks and helps prepare the product for the next operation. Compared with manual handling, the process becomes more stable, repeatable and hygienic.
The equipment can be used before automatic declipping, peeling, slicing, product loading or packaging. It can also be integrated into a wider sausage cutting and packaging automation line, depending on the customer’s production layout.

Why Clip Twisting Matters Before Packaging

In sausage production, clip position and casing condition can directly affect the next processing stages.
If clip handling is done manually, the result may vary from operator to operator. This can slow down the line, increase product contact and create extra risks before packaging. A controlled clip twisting process helps make the product more predictable for downstream equipment.
For plants working with high production volumes, this can improve line rhythm and reduce small losses that become significant over many shifts.

Commercial Effect

The project helped the customer automate a labor-intensive operation and reduce costs connected with the packaging process.
In the customer’s production example, after implementing the equipment, the plant was able to move from PA/PE 250 µm film at €341.06 per 1,000 m to a more economical PA/PE 200 µm film at €272.84 per 1,000 m.
This reduced packaging film cost by approximately 20%. With a shift volume of 10 tons, the estimated saving was around €341 per shift. At 250 production shifts per year, the potential annual saving reached approximately €85,250.
The actual effect depends on the sausage type, casing, clip position, packaging material, production volume, line configuration and operating conditions.

Main Results

— automated clip twisting before downstream processing
— reduced manual operations with sausage sticks
— more stable clip preparation before packaging
— lower risk of casing damage during handling
— reduced direct operator contact with the product
— improved hygiene at the processing stage
— potential packaging film cost reduction
— more predictable production flow

Suitable for Sausage Processing Lines

The Sausage Clip Twister can be used in production lines where sausage sticks need to be prepared before further processing.
Typical downstream stages include:
— automatic declipping
— sausage peeling
— slicing
— product loading
— thermoforming
— tray packaging
— further automated handling
The machine is suitable for meat processing plants that want to reduce manual clip handling and make sausage preparation before packaging more stable.
