Sausage Portioner Weight & Cut for 45° Angled Cutting at Miratorg

Angled Sausage Cutting for a Better Pack Presentation

Mirotec completed another project for Miratorg: a Sausage Portioner Weight & Cut system for automatic angled cutting of sausage logs before packaging.
The machine cuts sausage logs at 45°, 70° or 90°, helping create a clean and consistent cut surface for retail packaging. For this project, the main focus was 45° angled cutting, where product appearance in the pack is especially important.
The solution helped the customer reduce manual cutting, improve hygiene and make product loading into packaging equipment more stable.

Project Task

The customer needed to automate sausage log cutting before packaging while keeping the cut clean, accurate and visually attractive in the final pack.
The project was focused on several production tasks:
— automate cutting of sausage logs in half
— provide clean angled cutting at 45°
— keep stable portion accuracy before packaging
— improve product presentation on the shelf
— reduce manual handling and operator contact
— safely process sausage logs with and without clips
— synchronize cutting with downstream packaging equipment

Implemented Solution

Mirotec supplied and integrated a Sausage Portioner Weight & Cut system adapted for angled sausage cutting.
The machine was configured for cutting at 45°, 70° and 90° and integrated into the customer’s line together with a signal unit, label applicator and thermoformer. The system was also synchronized with a loading unit for two-chamber trays.
This allowed the customer to connect cutting, product transfer and packaging preparation into one more stable process.

Safe Cutting of Clipped Sausage Logs

One of the important requirements of the project was the ability to cut sausage logs with clips without damaging the casing.
The protected cutting unit helps keep the product stable during cutting and reduces the risk of casing damage. This is important for sausage producers who work with different product formats and need to keep both product quality and packaging appearance under control.

Commercial Effect

The project helped automate a repetitive manual operation and improve the overall rhythm of the packaging line.
Main results for the customer:
— less time spent on manual cutting and loading
— reduced direct contact with the product
— improved hygiene at the cutting and packaging stage
— better visual presentation of sausage halves in the pack
— increased packaging line productivity by 15–20%
— support for boiled sausages, boiled-smoked products and sausage logs with or without clips

Portion Accuracy and Product Savings

The Sausage Portioner Weight & Cut system provides accurate cutting with a deviation of approximately ±1% of the sausage log weight.
The reject system helps reduce unnecessary product loss. If one half of the sausage log is outside the required weight range, the machine can reject only the non-standard half while keeping the acceptable half for packaging.
This helps save more sellable product compared with processes where the whole sausage log is rejected after an inaccurate cut.
